Guest Speaker: Hugh Dennis

Dennis,Hugh - approved shot 2

Hugh Dennis made his name as one half of Punt & Dennis. He and Steve Punt still appear together on Radio 4’s The Now Show, whilst Hugh also captains his team on Mock The Week, and starred in Outnumbered - the wonderfully inventive semi-improvised BBC sitcom.

After originally working as a brand manager for Unilever, Hugh turned a talent for impressions to better use and began to provide voices for Spitting Image. He then became a regular guest on the Jasper Carott Show and joined the team on the seminal standup and sketch show The Mary Whitehouse Experience, which first aired on the radio before becoming a cult BBC2 hit.

Hugh and Steve starred in several peak time series of their own, including The Imaginatively Titled Punt & Dennis Show - and Me, You and Him. Hugh has been a guest on panel shows from QI to Would I Lie to You? and has gone on to a host of both comic and serious acting roles from New Tricks to Agatha Christie’s Marple, Not Going Out to Doctors, Midsomer Murders to the acclaimed Fleabag

BCO Covid Policy

The BCO is excited to return to its in-person format and we hope that attendees will make the most of the many networking opportunities at our events. We want to make sure that this can be done in a way that is safe and enjoyable for everyone, so we have put together a roadmap to outline our health & safety protocols. We would ask you to follow these protocols both to reduce the risk for yourself, as much as for others, bearing in mind that there might be guests who feel more vulnerable or less comfortable at large gatherings at this point in time.

Before the event

The BCO is now required by law to check attendees COVID status as a condition of entry. This means all attendees will need to demonstrate proof of COVID-19 status for entry to the dinner.

This will need to be one of the following:

  • Proof of completion of a full course of vaccination two weeks prior to arrival via the NHS COVID Pass (NB This is different to the NHS COVID-19 Test and Trace app), EU Digital Pass or equivalent for internationals. It is advised individuals apply no later than 48 hours before attending the event to allow for the application to be processed in time.
    OR
  • Lateral flow or PCR negative test results text or e-mail, received within 48 hours prior to attending the event. We will ask to see the NHS email or text message you received once you reported your result to the NHS. The fastest way to report your Lateral Flow Test result is online. We will not accept the physical test or a photo of the test.

If attendees would prefer not to use the app, or do not have a smartphone, they can obtain a NHS COVID Pass letter (proving vaccination status only) by calling 119 or visiting the NHS website. Attendees with a medical exemption should advise a member of staff during the checking process.

We also actively encourage all attendees to take a lateral flow test regardless of their vaccination status, and only attend the event if the result is negative.

At the Grosvenor

On arrival, the BCO in partnership with the Grosvenor will be verifying attendees COVID-19 status at the Park Lane street level entrance. More details on how to show proof of status, can be found in the paragraph above.
