Description

The Northern Committee are pleased to provide an opportunity to take part in some socially distanced networking as well as a walking tour of Majestic Building and Wellington Place, Leeds.

The Majestic sits proud on City Square as a well-known Leeds icon, which has been reimagined, reinterpreted and repurposed, to provide 66,000 sqft of Grade A workspace for the dynamic City. The design has preserved the existing and recognisable solid plinth from which a more delicate contemporary structure has emerged, to provide workspace across seven floors, with the elegance and style of the building being captured throughout.

Originally built as a super cinema in the 1920s, the building’s past has a thematic synergy with the Majestic haven been chosen as the new National HQ home of Channel 4.

The 21 acre Wellington Place neighbourhood will provide over 1.9 million sf of space within the centre of Leeds when it is all completed. MEPC have been working on the development for over 10 years and to date they have delivered 9 buildings – which provides over 1,000,000 sf of new commercial accommodation. The area is linked with extensive public realm and a central square focused on the listed Railway Lifting Tower which dates back to the 1850’s. The development provides an excellent selection of amenity with bars, restaurants, an on-site shop and a private medical practice.

Places are limited to 20 and attendees will be split into groups of 6 to remain in line with government guidance.

Further detail for this event will be sent to attendees closer to the time.
