COP26 - Net Zero Carbon: Definitions & Inspirations

Expand Navigation

Net zero carbon and climate change are the two most compelling issues of our time. The built environment has a significant role to play and should demonstrate leadership by setting and delivering against ambitious climate commitments. This leadership will be crucial for the UK to reach its net zero target.

Description

The 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) will be hosted by the UK in Glasgow in November 2021. The Cop26 Summit is seen as an important opportunity – perhaps the last chance- to put the world back on track to meet the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement.

Ahead of COP26, the BCO is running a series of webinars, culminating in an all-day conference in November, to explore what the industry can and should be doing to go ‘Beyond Net Zero’. During our season of events we will be looking at definitions, unpick challenges around embodied carbon, look at value and ask ourselves what Beyond Net Zero actually looks like.

Our first webinar will focus on definitions of net zero and the architectural and engineering opportunities that lie ahead. Join us and the debate on 28 April at 2pm.

Panel:
Debbie Hobbs, Group Director of Sustainability, ISG (Chair)
Simon Allford, Founding Director of AHMM, RIBA President Elect
Mel Allwood, Associate Director, Arup
David Richards, Director, Atelier Ten
