Get Involved

The BCO gains its strength from the enthusiasm of its members who volunteer their time and expertise in a variety of areas.

BCO members can get involved through the:

Board of Management

Once a year the call goes out to all BCO members inviting nominations for elections to the Board of Management. Nominations can only be accepted from BCO members and it is the membership themselves who elect representatives to the Board. View the current Board here.

Research

At the core of the BCO is research covering topics from the specification of offices to post-occupancy evaluations. BCO research is produced by a number of committees recruited from our membership. Full details of the research committees can be found at www.bco.org.uk/committees.

BCO members can put themselves forward for consideration by downloading the Research Committees Application Form and returning it to the BCO.

We cannot guarantee that you will b e placed on a committee but all applications will be put forward when a space becomes available.

Regional Chapters

The BCO is split into four regional chapters. These chapters, managed by a chapter chairman and committee, focus on matters of local interest and undertake activities designed to complement the work of the BCO at a national level. Events include regional lunches and dinners, technical tours, regional awards and a seminar programme.

If you would like to get involved with your regional chapter, please contact your Regional Chairman. Further information on all Regional Chapters can be found here.

Technical Tours

Members are invited to suggest building for a BCO Technical Tour. One of the most popular benefits of membership is the opportunity to visit exciting projects across the UK.

The aim of the tour is to enable our members to gain an insight into how the project was conceived and developed and what its impacts are on the local area from an economical and regeneration perspective.

If you would like to suggest a building please email the name, location and building description to  events@bco.org.uk

BCO Awards

The BCO Awards Programme provides public recognition for top quality design and functionality and is a benchmark for excellence in workplaces. The programme acknowledges innovation and focuses external attention on examples of best practice.

The Awards Programme would not exist without the knowledge and expertise of our judging panels. There are six Judging Panels involved in the Awards, five regional and one national. All of these panels have a cross section of expertise from across the commercial property industry and each judge serves for a maximum of three years.

If you are interested in becoming a BCO Judge, and are a BCO member, you can do so by completing the BCO Judges application form and returning it to the BCO.
