National Good Office Week
National Good Office Week will celebrate the very best in UK offices
Some 60% of the UK's population works in some form of office. The service sector has overtaken traditional industries in contributing to GDP, and as a nation we are using corporate workspace more and more. Yet how much do we really think about the space we are using? How does it contribute to our businesses? How does it support our people? How can we make it more productive? How can it better reflect what our businesses are about?
Even as flexible working becomes more commonplace, the office is evolving to fill a different and equally important role - that of a social support to working life.
New for 2006 the British Council for Offices will host National Good Office Week. The initiative will act as a catalyst for debate and an exploration of the issues that affect the UK's X sq m of office space. National Good Office Week is set to run from October 2 - 6 2006, to coincide with the BCO Awards. Its goal is to raise awareness of issues impacting the office sector, specifically from an end user perspective.
"We're striving to engage with the office dwelling public,' explains BCO's Richard Kauntze. "Offices are an important part of a thriving UK economy. Research clearly demonstrates that great workplaces increase productivity, creativity and profitability for UK businesses.
