WD-40’s headquarters, 252 The Square, Milton Keynes

An office building located in the town’s business district; 252 The Square has cemented itself as the new home for WD-40 in the UK. Reflecting the business’ values of collaboration and teamwork, the office space has created a sense of togetherness by roofing over the open courtyard and creating a central space that has become the building’s most defining feature. The health and wellbeing of employees has been carefully considered in the design, with an on-site gym and changing facilities, a café and covered cycle parking. The new atria and roof light also deliver an impressive level of natural daylight into the building, providing excellent views across the workplace.

20SW_BBC_FitOut

BBC Wales, Central Square, Cardiff

The design, which explicitly set out to raise standards on wellness and inclusivity, incorporated neurodiversity in every decision — including lighting, colour, patterns, and routes through the building. The BCO judges noted that the fit out successfully achieved BBC Wales’ ambition of “bringing the city inside”, by revealing the magic of the content creation that happens on screen, to the public. The open approach to design further came to life in the way the building created opportunities for the local community, with local suppliers and craftspeople  being involved throughout.

Project 2-4, Blythswood Square, Glasgow

After an extensive search, Chivas Brothers selected 2-4 Blythswood Square to be its new headquarters. The judges noted the impressive redevelopment of the office building, which has a listed, Georgian façade overlooking the stunning Blythswood Gardens. The judging team were particularly  impressed that Chivas had adopted their Pernod Ricard’s motto ‘createurs de convivialite’ (creators of conviviality) throughout the accommodation, with an open plan office extending to 27,500 sq. ft., arranged over five levels with a new central glazed courtyard.
