KMB Tachbrook Park, Millward Brown Building, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire

Fitted out to comply with and exceed BCO standards, KMB has transformed a dated office building into a modern, impressive working environment. Externally redesigned, the building benefits from a new reception area and triple height atrium, ensuring plenty of natural light. The internal refurbishment has been designed to provide employees with a variety of break out spaces, including a new canteen and top floor bar area. The separation of floor plates and considered entrance layout provides the option to easily sublet office space in the future.

160 Old Street, London

The judges were struck by the transformation of this space from a neglected 1970s building into an innovative, sustainable and modern development. Chiefly, the use of an innovative smart building app which informs occupants of the latest local events and offerings, as well as allowing workers control over the light and temperature of their personal desk space, creating a truly enjoyable and personalised experience at work.

RB Science and Innovation Centre, Dansom Lane, Hull

RB Science and Innovation Centre impressed the judges with its fusion of old and new. It is RB’s largest facility and was a significant investment for the multinational healthcare provider - an investment which, the BCO judging panel felt, has seen new life breathed into some of their older buildings, matched with an entirely new facility. The development has reinvigorated how employees and the local community interact with the space.

Eagle House, Colston Avenue, Bristol

Eagle House, Colston Avenue in Bristol was awarded the Refurbished/Recycled Workplace award, for its bold and imaginative transformation into a modern workplace. The BCO judges acknowledged the many challenges this project faced during the refurbishment, but were impressed by the clear, efficient and attractive space that has been delivered through the final design. The judges also noted the drastic improvement to the building’s internal space, where the addition of an impressive atrium, a roof terrace, a central staircase, and a remodelled entrance and auditorium space have all brought a new sense of character to the building.

SCOTLAND

20SCOT_Reiach-and-Hall-Arch

10 George Street, Edinburgh

Situated within the Edinburgh New Town World Heritage site, the building previously suffered from poor daylight and a dated structure. Expanding the space in the Reception and taking advantage of the height to introduce high levels of glazing has created a spacious and warming environment. The judges were highly impressed by the new space, which allows for better communication and collaboration physically and optically. The judges agreed the refurbished space has breathed new life into a prestigious location to create a contemporary, flexible office space.
