As a Workplace Consultant at JLL, I am currently leading the delivery of Workplace Change for the new Glasgow Barclays Campus.

I have worked in the commercial office sector for 15 years across the public and private sectors. My career started in design, then following the 2008 crash I transferred to move management and workplace strategy. I have a BSc in Industrial Product Design and a MSc in Construction Project Management. I am a geek at heart, and love data as well as the latest tech and apps to help us work smarter. 

I can empathise with the unique challenges (and opportunities!) of working in Scotland. The includes working in large busy corporate environments as well as occasionally being the only team member in Scotland and working remotely with teams across the globe. 

 Stephen Lewis


Stephen Lewis, Managing Director, HFD Property Group Ltd   

Over 25 years’ commercial property experience, predominately office led developments, in both the private and public sectors on both the client and consulting side in a range of roles from Property & Asset Management, Consultancy, Agency and Development. 

Projects include both Strathclyde Business Park (SBP) and Hamilton International Park (HIP), extending to over 2.7m sq.ft. Highlights include the EcoCampus (235,000sq.ft) at HIP - the UK’s first speculative Carbon Neutral Office, let in its entirety to University West of Scotland and CityPark1, a 215,000sq.ft office for Wood Group in Aberdeen.   

Glasgow City Centre development includes G1, the 130,000sq.ft redevelopment in George Square and Bothwell Exchange, an entire city block including 2 prime office developments extending to 155,000sq.ft, pre-let to Morgan Stanley and our current development – 177 Bothwell St, a  315,000sq.ft office, partially pre-let to Virgin Money.   

HFD’s current portfolio is home to over 340 businesses (predominately office occupiers ranging from 200 – 235,000sq.ft) with combined employment in excess of 18,000 staff.   

Stephen is a former Chair of the Judging Panel of the BCO Awards (Scotland), BCO Awards (UK) and is currently a member of the BCO Committee in Scotland.

 John Lewthwaite

  John Lewthwaite, Associate Project Manager, Thomson Gray

John is very personable and quickly forms strong relationships with both clients and other consultants to promote effective, collaborative teamwork. John’s experience and Project Management qualifications help to provide innovative solutions to any issues to achieve the desired result on time and on budget. John has extensive all-round experience in both commercial and public sector including considerable experience in the Banking and Finance sector.  

He has also worked in a diverse range of other sectors including education, health, residential, public sector and commercial.  John has experience of all stages of the project lifecycle from feasibility through to post completion in new build, fit-outs and refurbishments. John is particularly strong within the commercial sector and likes fast paced projects. 

John understands the necessity of providing high quality, flexible advice to meet the needs of client demands and the impact this has on other stakeholders.


Angela Lowe

Angela Lowe, Senior Director, CBRE

Angela is a Senior Director within the National Advisory & Transactions team at CBRE and she is based in Edinburgh. She leads the Occupier Advisory & Transactions team in Scotland.  With 20 years experience, Angela in an expert in the office sector.  Her experience includes advising developers and investors on office development from initial design, property marketing and leasing/sale.  On the occupier side, she has long standing client relationships and experience of providing strategic and transactional advice.       

The CBRE Women’s Network is market leading and Angela has previously been involved on the advisory board.

 Joseph Madden


Joseph Madden, Managing Director, PMP

Established Chartered Building Surveyor and Managing Director of property and construction consultancy firm PMP, Joseph joined the company in 2015 and spearheaded the UK expansion to 5 key locations. 

With 20 years experience in commercial building surveying varied between transactional, legal and project related advice, Joseph is an acclaimed industry expert in dilapidations, with a specialism in pre and post acquisition technical due diligence, he is a leading advisor in court matters and his expertise is often sought on high profile cases. 

Promoted to director of an international consultancy at age 29, Joseph helped to establish and grow one of Glasgow’s most successful Property & Construction Networking events, was chosen as a Scottish Finalist on the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for 2020, and has been selected onto the judging panel for the Scottish Property Awards 2021.

Hazel Pearson


Hazel Pearson, Director, Michael Laird Architects

Hazel is a former BCO NextGen Chair and was instrumental in the establishment of the BCO NextGen Committee in Scotland; Hazel is also an Architect and Director at Michael Laird Architects in Edinburgh. She joined the team early in 2012 with 4 years of experience in the leisure and residential sectors. Hazel graduated from Dundee University School of Architecture in 2008 and has since worked in practice on a variety of Architecture and Interior projects from feasibility to completion. She has also led projects through the planning and building warrant processes, produced tender and construction packages and has run both architectural and interior projects on site.


  Gary Scott, Director, MPACT Group

Gary is the Construction Director and Head of the Glasgow Office for MPACT Group, a specialist Fit Out and Refurbishment Contractor.  Gary comes from a Project Management background specialising in the delivery of complex Office Refurbishment Projects for UK Plc’s.

A former BCO NextGen Chair Gary started in the industry with a Basic CSCS Card and some borrowed PPE.  He has progressed to a Board Level Position through investing in himself and others around him.  Gary credits his progression and growth in the industry to his self-development, network and mentors.  Gary is keen to develop the future talent in the industry.

 Simon Walsh


Simon Walsh, Director, Cooper Cromar

Simon joined Cooper Cromar in 1998, having started his career at practices in Manchester and Singapore. Positive, enthusiastic and patient, he balances a creative eye and skill for design with a wealth of technical expertise.

Simon is recognised in the business for his work ethic and determination to solve any problem that comes his way. As a natural people person, he is equally comfortable collaborating with Clients as he is talking to other industry consultants, which, when combined with an unflappable nature, makes him the perfect man to lead multi-disciplinary design teams on complex projects.

Popular with Clients and a mentor for the next generation of young architects, he’s even brushing up in his leisure time on his drawing and painting skills, which some might say is just showing off.


 Allan West

  Allan West, Technical Director, Hulley & Kirkwood Consulting Engineers

Allan is a Technical Director currently in his 24th year with Hulley & Kirkwood Consulting Engineers, having started as a Mechanical Engineer in 1997 in their Glasgow office. Allan left behind a prior 10-year career in heavy engineering on the Clyde, having been ‘seduced’ by the ‘glamour’ of Building Services Engineering, construction and consultancy. His experience in building engineering services design is extremely broad and diverse in all respects e.g. sector, value, complexity and duration. Whilst he has contributed to projects of all sizes, he has more recently led the MEP design on some landmark developments in Scotland i.e. City of Glasgow Colleges and Aberdeen Arena and Exhibition Centre (P&J Live).

Whilst relatively new to the BCO, having joined in 2019, he has enjoyed delivering a number of successful commercial office commissions around the country with some notable examples in Glasgow’s IFSD (AQ5 Capella and 55 Douglas Street).

Allan is in his fourth year as an External Examiner for the ‘BEng (Hons) Building Services’ Degree at Glasgow Caledonian University. As an alumnus and where he gained his first degree, he finds it particularly gratifying to play a small part in the development of the future crop of Building Services engineers and their higher education. He is a member of CIBSE and gained chartered status in 2014.
