This year, necessitated by the pandemic, we are taking the BCO Awards online. The growing strength of the BCO’s regional chapters and their desire to spotlight the very best in each area will feature in a Festival Week of Virtual BCO Awards which will take place from 19 October – 23 October.
Description
The Northern Awards will now be hosted online on Wednesday, 21 October @5pm by stand-up comedian, Justin Moorhouse, who will be announcing all category winners. Joining Justin on our virtual stage will be our CEO, Richard Kauntze and Chair of the Northern Committee, Phil Doyle and Chair of the Northern Judging Panel, Ian Aldous.
Whilst we are precluded from being together at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel (formerly Principal Hayley) in Manchester, we have worked hard to provide a fabulous experience with all the excitement you would expect at this prestigious and popular event. Virtual events are innovative spaces and we invite you to step into a world of new possibilities: network with your guests ‘face to face’, welcome them for drinks at your virtual table, watch the show “live” on a virtual stage and make contact with others on the guest list. If this sounds fantastic but hard to imagine, don’t worry, we will provide you with an easy to follow “How to Guide”, so all you need to do on the day is to put the Champagne in the fridge and enjoy the event.
We very much hope that you will join us at the virtual awards show to celebrate the fantastic achievements of the talented teams that have entered their projects this year.

Justin Moorhouse
Thinking there might be more to life than sales (and realising that he would never play for Manchester United), Justin Moorhouse took up comedy at the comparatively late age of 29.
With his northern charm and cheekiness, he quickly grabbed the attention of the Manchester comedy scene. After supporting the city’s best known comedians, including Johnny Vegas and Peter Kay, Justin became a headline act in his own right. He is perhaps most recognisable as the hapless Young Kenny in Phoenix Nights - who spent the whole of the second series with his face painted as a tiger - but he has also appeared in Coronation Street, as rival pub landlord Dean Upton, and was a winner of Celebrity Mastermind.
Justin presented a Sony nominated radio show on Key 103 for more than a decade, and has performed two series of his own sitcom, Everyone Quite Likes Justin, on Radio 4. He has also appeared in Shameless and 8 Out Of 10 Cats, and the much lauded Ken Loach film Looking For Eric. He wrote the acclaimed Radio 4 comedy drama, An Insurance Inspector Calls, and is a regular guest on The News Quiz.
