Many offices are still specified to provide an analogue rather than digital experience. Systems are not joined up and are difficult to integrate. The low level of adoption of smart systems in offices affects the ability of office owners and office managers to optimise performance using data and analytics. The report argues that through creating opportunities to improve space utilisation and reduce energy consumption, the adoption of digital workspace technologies can deliver immediate savings to building owners, while the wider benefits to the workforce- in providing high quality space that supports collaborative working – are also likely to deliver long-term benefits.

This report examines how the development of the digital workspace will create opportunities for both workers and building managers to use buildings more effectively, and how digital capability will contribute directly to creating a positive customer experience for all building users.
