BCO Research Seminar & Tour: The Government Hubs Programme

The Government Hubs Programme, a cross-government initiative, will transform central government’s office estate by accommodating multi-departmental workforces in high quality buildings across the UK. The modern working environments will allow civil and public servants to use space more innovatively, more flexibly and more collaboratively. Phase one is being jointly delivered by GPA and HMRC. Ten hubs have already been announced with two already hosting civil servants.

This significant rationalisation, productivity and workplace transformation programme will save taxpayer money and support delivery of the best quality services to the public. The Cabinet Office has commissioned an independent four year study to assess the quantitative and qualitative benefits of co-locating departments in hubs.

BCO will share the findings from the first year of research. This will be followed by a tour of 1 Ruskin Square, the first new hub to be fully operational, and part of HMRC’s network of regional centres.
