This study focused on individual desk loads to identify any changes in the power required. There have been changes in technology and ways of working in recent years which were seen as important factors for the design of office environments. The initial work was undertaken by Aecom, Hilson Moran and WSP with additional case studies at Legal & General, M&G Investments and PricewaterhouseCoopers. The study focused on diversity amongst users as it looked at high, medium and low intensity users, it did not consider employee absence or utilisation.

Undertaken to inform the next edition of the BCO Guide to Specification, this report considers whether there should be a reduction in the recommended small power allowances that are included in building specifications.
