BCO Midlands & East Anglia: Future of Work
How is technology changing the nature of jobs and work, and what does this mean for the future of offices and the cities they are located in? Elena Magrini, Analyst at Centre for Cities will explore how the growth of certain types of jobs, the skills they require and the industries they are in, can offer insight into which urban jobs and office jobs are most likely to survive and grow in importance in the future.
Using Centre for Cities analysis, which looks at these trends across 63 UK cities, she will discuss which cities are most likely to withstand and prosper from continuing technological and globalisation changes, and which cities are in a more vulnerable position. She will highlight where policy should focus – whether on skills or infrastructure – to prevent those cities at most risk from missing out on the jobs on the future, and how those in a stronger position will need to prepare for their future growth.
